BLOG: Why all runners can benefit from hiring a coach
May 5, 2016
Think coaches are just for elite runners or high school and collegiate athletes? The truth is that everyone can benefit from hiring a coach, and here's why:
Less stress. Many runners are "type A" personalities who strive for perfection. Coaching yourself can be difficult, especially if you have the tendency to second guess yourself. Handing over the reins helps you feel less stress throughout your training.
More efficient training. More isn't always better, and often it takes a trained set of eyes to identify areas in your running where you can improve. Hiring a coach ensures you are reaching your maximum potential while living your best life.
Fewer injuries. Runners who are injury prone can benefit the most from hiring a coach, as he or she will help you resist the urge to run too many miles or in a manner that is unsustainable.
Improvement. If improving were easy, the Boston Marathon wouldn't be such an attractive goal to so many runners. Hiring a coach pushes you to perform the workouts that will help you reach your fullest potential.
